Planning Your Trip
Planning a Trip requires 4 simple steps. Below you will find information on each of these steps to assist you if you are having difficulties.Steps and : Specify the Origin/Starting Point and the Destination by entering:
If the information that you enter can be interpreted in more than one way, a list of possible matches is returned, so that you can choose the one you want and proceed.
- an address, e.g. 2010 FLORA; OR
- an intersection, e.g. ELM AND COMMERCE, or ELM @ COMMERCE ; OR
- a landmark, e.g. DALLAS LOVE FIELD
- Note: Do not enter a city name with an address or intersection
Tip: If you are having difficulty matching your address or intersection, try omitting punctuation, unit/suite numbers, street suffixes (i.e. St., Ave., Blvd.) and/or directional indicators (i.e. N, S, E, W). For help with area highway names, please see the Reference Guide to determine the highway name that will be recognized by the trip planner.
DART special event shuttles, DART Rail and TRE special event service to the American Airlines Center via Victory Station and DART On-Call services are not available through the DART Trip Planner. Check the Special Destinations section on DART.org to view more information about DART special event shuttles.
To search for landmarks, click on the Select By Landmarks menu box and choose a category from the drop-down list. This is useful if you do not know the name of the landmark you are looking for.
Note: Not ALL landmarks throughout the DART Service Area are included. If you are having problems with a specific location, please try entering it using the address.
Please be aware that the DART Trip Planner will only create itineraries for fixed-route bus and rail service for locations within the DART service area. Fixed-route service to Fort Worth, Richland Hills and Hurst rail stations via the TRE is also available through this trip planner. View the DART System Map for more information regarding the DART service area and DART Rail station, park & ride and transit center locations.
Step: Enter a Date/Time for departure or arrival and select Options
By default, the Trip Planner assumes that your request is made for today, departing at a time close to the current time. The Date displayed is the date your 'Trip Planning' results will be based on. Date selection is important as DART provides different levels of service on different days. A trip valid on a given weekday may not be available on the weekend, or on a future weekday after a scheduled service change.
Enter the Time of day you want to travel. Select am or pm and indicate whether you want to depart or arrive at the time of day specified.
The Trip Planner will find itineraries based on the exact time provided. Remember times at some stops are estimated based on normal conditions and actual times may vary slightly. Please allow sufficient walking time to/from your Origin/Destination.
Please note: you cannot select a date beyond 14 days from the current date.
The Sort Results by drop-down menu enables you to optimize your itinerary search results by:
Step: Click on the Get Trip Plan button
- Number of Transfers - sorts itineraries by the fewest transfers (default setting)
- Trip Time - sorts itineraries by the shortest trip
- Walking Distance - sorts itineraries by the shortest walking distance
